BaseCore™ Geocell FAQ
Answering frequently asked questions about our HDPE BaseCore™ Geocell panels so you get the ground stabilization and industrial erosion control you need. Learn more about specific commercial applications by reading our installation guides and videos.
General Product Information
Our honeycomb geocell structures are made out of a thick high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that’s as strong as concrete. Engineers ultrasonically welded BaseCore™ Geocell at certain intervals for maximum strength. Also, the product has perforation (holes) that provide natural drainage in your commercial project.
While both products support various commercial applications, you may need extra strength for certain jobs. BaseCore™ HD Geocell is meant for heavier vehicle traffic while BaseCore™ Geocell handles smaller loads and erosion control. Our engineering experts can explain more about which base fits your project in a professional evaluation.
Expanding both ground grids, BaseCore™ Geocell has an area of 55.7 ft2 in contrast to the larger HD model. They cover 231 ft2 and have individual cells welded closer together. Visit our product pages to view specific dimensions for length, width, and height.
We can custom-design BaseCore™ Geocell foundation grids to meet whatever project demands you have. Drainage pipes, trees, and other obstacles are not an issue when laying a solid geocell base. You can fit flexible BaseCore™ Geocell panels around these objects that you can’t do with concrete and steel.
BaseCore™ Geocell lasts a lifetime, unlike concrete, steel, timber, and gravel that have shorter lifespans. It’s corrosion, weather, and chemical-resistant and can sustain a commercial project for 75+ years.
We stock BaseCore™ Geocell products that can withstand natural disasters and mechanical and hydraulic stresses. The United States Army Corps installed geocell honeycomb structures as temporary access roads for tanks and other massive equipment. This same trustworthy foundation is what supports hundreds of commercial projects across the world.
Yes, you can. Simply have a construction or landscape crew pull the BaseCore™ geocells out of the ground and lay them for the new foundation. Our prices are comparable with most ground stabilization materials so you can purchase more ground grids too.
Our BaseCore™ engineering support team would be glad to speak with you about product testing and specs. We consult your project through a free commercial evaluation to learn your specific needs. Schedule one now and we can get back to you in a few hours.
Product Installation FAQ
No, BaseCore™ Geocell doesn’t require formal training or specialists to install. Anyone can become a geocell foundation expert in a matter of hours. Landscape laborers, construction crews, and community members are all capable of working with our easy-install base.
The specific infill depends on the commercial application and your unique project circumstances. However, BaseCore™ Geocell can support gravel, concrete, asphalt, grass, and various infills. You can even recycle on-site materials instead of hauling them to reduce project costs
BaseCore™ geocell should lay on sturdy geotextile fabric to prevent everything from sinking into the subgrade. Also, you need to purchase BaseCaps and BaseClips to connect panels together for dispersion of lateral pressure across the entire base.
Your installation crew must prepare the subgrade and remove previous foundation material before laying down BaseCore™ Geocell. This includes debris, large rocks, vegetation, etc.
BaseCore™ Geocell is the only commercial foundation you’ll ever need and eliminates purchasing materials for a sub-base.
Our geocell application pages outline a general 6-8 step installation process. However, you can also look at our resource page for specific installation videos and guides. They address particularities with slope embankments, parking lots, and more.
Other Questions
The project’s aggregate requirements will most likely exceed the price of BaseCore™ geocell. We understand infill is a budget consideration just like foundation grids. Our BaseCore™ engineers will quote you with a local aggregate company for the cheapest price.
They do. We have another website dedicated to serving our residential clients with BaseCore™ Geocell and completing their backyard projects. Check it out here to learn more.
