Project Implementation and Results
The project started with a thorough site assessment and detailed design plans. Key steps included removing old asphalt, deploying and securing geocells, filling them with stone, building a block retaining wall, and applying a final aggregate layer. The geocell system significantly improved soil stability and load-bearing capacity, ensuring the paths and parking lot could handle heavy use and environmental conditions. Additionally, the permeable parking lot design improved stormwater management, reducing runoff and protecting the nearby lake’s water quality.
Project Outcomes and Future Implications
The project achieved durable and stable cart paths, an effective permeable parking lot, and notable cost savings in construction and maintenance. Positive feedback from the golf course management and community highlighted improved usability and aesthetic appeal. The successful use of BaseCore HD 3″ geocell in this project suggests its potential for similar applications in other community and recreational settings, providing a model for sustainable and resilient infrastructure development.
